What is a Hook Fastener?
– It is the fastening system.
Patch features a durable hook-and-loop (Velcro) backing, making it easy to attach and remove from any OCP uniform. Compliant with AR 670-1 standards, this 3-inch patch is designed for proper placement on the shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI). The Velcro attachment prevents fabric damage from repeated sewing while providing a secure hold. Ideal for Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard personnel, it ensures convenience and consistency. At Kim’s #1 Sewing, we offer Velcro-backed USAREC patches in full color, subdued, and Scorpion OCP styles. All attachments are precisely applied by uniform specialists following official military guidelines. Fast shipping and regulation-compliant quality guaranteed.

MIL-SPEC Regulation
-Army Recruiting Command OCP Patch
Attaching OCP patches to the Army Combat Uniform (ACU) must follow official AR 670-1 regulations to maintain military uniformity and compliance. According to U.S. Army guidelines, the shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI)—unit patch—must be placed on the left sleeve Velcro field. If authorized, a combat patch (SSI–Former Wartime Service) goes on the right sleeve. Patches must match the OCP Scorpion II pattern and be either Velcro-backed or precisely sewn on, depending on the uniform version and role.
In addition, soldiers may wear U.S. flag patches on the right shoulder, with proper subdued colors. Skill badges (such as Airborne or Air Assault) are sewn above the U.S. Army tape, while name tape and branch tape are centered above each chest pocket. Rank insignia goes on the front hook-and-loop loop field.
At Kim’s #1 Sewing, we follow every inch of these regulations with precision. Our team of experienced seamstresses ensures your ACU jacket meets appearance standards with perfectly aligned patches. Whether it’s initial setup or regulation updates, we deliver military-accurate sewing every time. Trust the standard. Trust Kim’s #1.
